30th August 2010

Well, what can I say? Our album launch night was fantastic, and it was all down to you lot! There are some great pictures up on our facebook page and I'll post some up here in a few days. Many thanks to Sanctas Quay for a cracking set too!
It's a bit quiet on the gig front for a bit, but we are negotiating with a couple of new venues, including one in Great Yarmouth!
Don't forget to visit our facebook page and say hello here.

Download THE SEA OF SKULLS HERE!

20th August 2010

Just over a week until THE event of the year! The Sea of Skulls launch party is at the Lady of the Lake, Oulton Broad, Lowestoft on the 28th of August. It's been a long time coming, 2 years in the making! There will be a limited run of The Divide T-shirts with the album sleeve printed on.
Support comes from Santas Quay and admission is, as ever, FREE! Can you afford to miss it?

4th August 2010

We have just had confirmation that we are on at 4.30 at the Reepham Festival on the 14th of August, between the Boomtown Rats and our old mates the Buster James Band and general all round good egg, Andy Guyton is depping for Howie for this one.

11th July 2010

What an odd gig! Annie from the Nelson was most apologetic as she had forgotton all about last nights gig! No advertising, no posters up at the pub! A slightly depleted audience then but everybody had a great time with more space to dance. The only person that I saw sitting down all night was Andy Philpot's mum (but she is 75! so we'll let her off!). Thanks to all that came and endured the heat!
Off to Narrrrwich in a couple of weeks to rock the Brickmakers!

2nd July 2010

Here's some bad news. The Old White Lion is to shut it's doors this weekend. The only venue in town for proper rock bands. We would like to wish Andy, Adele and Ash all the best in whatever they do and thank them for attempting (yet again) to inject some life into Yarmouth.

The good news is that we are playing The Lord Nelson on Trafalger Road West in Gorleston soon, after a bit of a break due to annual holidays (and a honeymoon!). See you there?

18th June 2010

Here is the News.......THE SEA OF SKULLS album, 2 years in the making, will be officially launched on Saturday the 28th August at The Lady of the Lake, Oulton Broad, Lowestoft. 13 tracks of epic ROCK!

6th June 2010

And so to the Lady of the Lake in Oulton Broad on the 12th of June Some of you may have noticed that it is also the same day of some football match or other, this will be on the big screen in the same room just before we go on (the full stop on my keyboard doesn't work so there are none!)

Howie

25th May 2010

Please note, that there have been a few changes in the gig list recently. Please check the gig list for up to date information.

9th May 2010

Just so you know, We are NOT playing The Lord Nelson, Gorleston on the 15th of this month as reported in the press!

7th May 2010

Finally! The new album "THE SEA OF SKULLS" is approaching completion. Almost 2 years of blood, sweat and guitar strings, has brought us to the point where we can announce that this 13 track epic will be in your mitts very shortly. You can hear some of the music on this very site, and the launch party will be held in one of our regular venues very soon. We are just tweaking the artwork before giving the go ahead to the duplicating plant. CDs will be available from us, and also be available for download.

We are proud to have been asked to headline the North Walsham Live Aid event on the 27th of March. This long running charity event has been headlined by some impressive names in past years, and, to be honest, we are totally knocked out! We shall be on at around midnight, with some superb acts on before us, including our old mates Raw Edge and Shy Fly. Admission is £8 for this unique event. More details can be found here.
Also check out our new reverbnation page. In the coming months, the new album will be available for download, as well as good ol' fashioned disc.
And speaking of which, we are off to London next week to get "The Sea of Skulls" mastered. Almost there..........:)

Howie

17th January 2010

Cancelled!! Lady of the Lake 22nd Jan. Cancelled!!!
Sorry people, but we've had the rug pulled from under us.

15th January 2010

Happy new year to everyone! We have just had confirmation that our new album The Sea of Skulls is to be mastered by Jon Astley at the end of February . Jon has an impressive track record as long as your arm, with credits including Led Zeppelin, Judas Priest, The Who and ABBA! You can find more about him here: http://www.closetotheedge.biz/.

20th December 2009

Great gig at the White Lion! Hope everyone got home in the driving snow!
All that left to say for this year is have a very happy Xmas and a very good new year. Thank you for your support in the last year, and we hope to see you all again next year, with some new venues and some very special gigs!

10th December 2009

Thanks to everyone that partied at Halloween. As you can see from the new photos on this site, we had a great time.
Just a bit of other news, unfortunately the next gig at the Lady of the Lake (18th December) is cancelled! Sorry about this, but if there was anyway around it, we would have found it!
The Brickmakers on the 12th, and the White Lion on the 19th are still on though. Mr Guyton is filling in for me at the Brickmakers, as I shall be elsewhere that night.

Howie

15th November 2009

Phew! What a gig at the White Lion last night, at 9pm the place was empty and we were wondering if we had been forgotton about.... but we needn't have worried! What a gig! It's very rare to see the entire venue up and dancing (inc. the bar staff, I spied you Ash!).
Next up is the return to The Eddie on Aylsham Rd, in Norwich. I wasn't there last time (cheers for depping Mr Guyton) so I'm really looking forward to doing it all again.

Howie

21st September 2009

It seems that Halloween is fast approaching (where did the year go?) This means TWO halloween partys for us! 1st up is the Brickmakers in Norwich with a superb support from Quercus. A new kick -ass guitar driven rock band, playing some classy covers of the songs that you had forgotten how much you liked and featuring our old mate Andy Guyton who sometimes plays with us.
The 31st sees us back at the Lady of the Lake in Oulton Broad for Halloween 'proper'. See you all for some spooky rocking fun?

Howie

14th September 2009

Don't forget!! The next gig is this Saturday at The Old White Lion, Great Yarmouth. The end of October see us doing a couple of Halloween gigs (Of course! Who else?) with a very special guest band at the Brickmakers. See you then....?

Howie

2nd September 2009

It seems the the Lady of the Lake went well. More with the Mighty Guyton at the Eddie in Norwich on the 12th Sept, and back to the regular line up for the White Lion in Yarmouth on the 19th Sept.

Howie

8th August 2009

Well.....The Clifftop is over, and the band have a couple of weeks rest. I actually have a months rest from playing, as I'm tied up with my other hat on for the next 2 gigs. Andy (the mighty) Guyton will be filling my size 8s for the next 2 gigs.
Party on Wayne......

Howie

21st June 2009

Just thought that I would mention that The Divide are now on Facebook, as well as Myspace. I hope this link works: Here . Back to the best gig in Yarmouth next. The White Lion!

10th May 2009

It seems ages since the last gig. Never mind, 2 gigs in 2 weeks coming up! :)
You may have noticed that some of the gigs have been moved around. This was due to someone forgetting about the holiday that he had booked. DOH! No names, but he wears a tall hat!

See you at the White Lion next weekend? Get there early, coz it gets a bit busy!

Howie.

(now off to restring my guitar)

28th March 2009

The Lady of the Lake on the 3rd of April Is gonna be a bit different. Due to work commitments, I can't be there so my place will be taken by Andy Guyton. He's been practising hard and he is gonna do us proud!
Just as a taster, you can find an early mix of "Sea of Skulls" from the new album on our myspace site here. It's not the finished version but I think you will agree that it rocks!
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support over the last few years. Once upon a time we would play to an empty pub. Now, I can't remember when we played even a half empty venue. My heartfelt thanks to all..

Howie

24th January 2009

Two gigs into 2009 and everything is rocking well! Two great gigs, The Lady of the Lake, and more recently a blinding one at the Brickmakers. We've been into the studio again and recorded two more tracks (that makes 15 now!). Ross gives an interview to the Eastern Evening News. Not bad for 3 weeks!
Next up is the White Lion on King St. on Gt. Yarmouth. Its located oppostite the turning to St. Peters Rd. Proprietors Andy and Adele used to run The Ship in Yarmouth, which was the best venue the town has had in recent years. Really looking forward to this one.

Howie

29th December 2008

Well, it's the end of yet another year and time to start gigging again! YAY! The Lady of the Lake in Oulton Broad, Lowestoft, is one of our favourite gigs and we hope to see you all there for a post New Years party on the 2nd January.
As ever, the times are a changing. Rasputins in Gt. Yarmouth is no longer a venue (or open!), but we hope to confirm some dates in a NEW venue just a bit further down the same road, run by some old friends.
Hope everybody had a good Christmas (if you celebrate it), and wishing you a Happy New Year.

Howie

23rd November 2008

Due to circumstances beyond our control, the Oxjam gig at Allens bar today has been cancelled. This event with be reorganised at a future date, and we hope to be able to participate.

Howie

15th November 2008

Things look very quiet on the gig front this month (and next) but fear not! We're beaving away behind the scenes, with the new album to mix and some brand new material which we are putting the finishing touches to. Note the updated gig list for next year.
We will be doing a charity gig in Yarmouth shortly too. Its been a while since we did anything in town and about 4 years since we played Allens bar, so see if you can get yourselves out for a worthy cause and have a rocking good time!

Howie

29th September 2008

Extra gig! A Halloween special at the Lady of the lake, 31st Oct. Unfortunatley, I can't be there due to work commitments, but it sounds like a fun night. I know there are lots of plans for spooky sillyness! Also, don't forget The Eddie gig on the 17th. We had a great time there last time, come and join us?
Just an update on the album front, its all recorded, but the studio hasn't got any free time until November, so we have to wait until then to mix it.

Howie

6th September 2008

Its seems such a long time since the last gig........ Back in action again this weekend YAY!

Howie

23th July 2008

Apologies for the lack of website recently, this was due to the usual technical probs, but all is back to normal now.
We just have to mix the new album, which is sounding pretty damn good! Launch date is likely to be in September, after our Summer holiday. We've already had a number of orders at gigs, and we are looking at it being sold in a national high street retailer.

Howie

18th March 2008

March 30th: The Lady of the Lake are running this as a one-off “special” Sunday to celebrate the start of British Summer Time. There will be a Beer Promotion, Barbecue, Pop Quiz, Comedian? And after us a DJ spinning Hits spanning the 60s, 70s, and 80s.

Again, don't forget this Friday...Rasputins with support from Ugly Muscle! Its about time Yarmouth rocked again!

Howie

13th March 2008

Its about time, I know..... We've finally booked some studio time! YAY!
During June and July we will be recording a new album of all those songs that we've been playing for quite some time but never recorded. Hopefully, we will also do repressings of the old one that we keep getting asked for too. That means that every original Divide song will be on disc!
As you may or may not know, so far every recording that the band has ever done has been a home grown affair from top to bottom. Thats the writing, playing, recording, mixing, mastering and duplication was done entirely "in house". Also the artwork was done by none other than our own GC. The new recording will hopefully give us another dimention to our sound, aided and abetted by my old mate Sotos at Ashwood Studios in Norwich.

Don't forget, The New Globe Inn, Lowestoft this Friday. Always a good, intimate little gig.

Lets Rock!

Howie

15th January 2008

Well, it's a happy new year to everyone. What can I say but come and see some gigs! Due to the Gt. Yarmouth music scene virtually non existantant since the demise of the Ship, we have spread our wing a little further afield and have had some great gigs in Norwich and Lowestoft. There have been a few cracking gigs at the Lady of the Lake and the New Globe in Lowestoft, The King Eddie in Norwich also looks to be a real hoot too! We've not deserted the Yarmouth area completely, as there are some more dates at the Belle Vue in Gorleston on the cards.

Catch ya soon, hopefully.
Howie

9th December.

Two cracking gigs later...... Thanks to Fenrir and Ugly Muscle for great sets at Rasputins. We'll have to do it again sometime.
One more gig this year, The Divide Xmas Party at the Belle Vue in Gorleston. Lets party in style.....

25th November.

OOH! Bit of a rock marathon coming up on Friday at Rasputins. We're doing our usual 2 hour set, plus we have two supports in the shape of Metal covers veterans Fenir, plus up and coming youngsters Ugly Muscle. Show starts about 9pm which means that we won't be on till around 11. Leave your Horlicks in the microwave and come down for 4 hours of the best entertainment in town!

1st November

ITS FINALLY WORKING PROPERLY!!!
LADY OF THE LAKE! THIS SATURDAY, 3RD NOV.
LETS ROCK!!

31st June 2007

YES! NORMAL SEVICE HAS BEEN RESUMED. Due to technical problems, I have been unable to access The Divides website for a month. For a start, there are 2 new dates at the newly reopened Ship, another at Rasputins, and a few more things coming up. Watch this space!

Howie

24th June 2007

Ha Ha Ha! A MAD ONE! The Belle Vue was one of the maddest gigs ever! Culminating in some very dodgy unrehearsed classic rock covers and a band member falling through a window (I won't say who, but he drives a big white van with pretty flashing amber lights on top). It was starting to look more like a pole dancers convention than a rock gig! Thanks to everyone who came out despite the appalling weather.
We were asked to play at the very last gig at the Ship, but unfortunately Bats will be away that weekend.
We're not gigging for a bit now. I've changed the way that you access the music on this site, and upgraded the quality of the tracks, so at least you can get a bit of a fix during our break. I might even post a few more, coz I'm likely to get bored!

Happy holidays
Howie

15th June 2007

Oh dear. It looks like The Ship is going the same way as all good things. The best venue in town is to close at the end of the month, with the building going up for auction. I don't know about you, but I've held the best in my hands and let it slip away, or been removed from my grasp. Things change, but not always for the better. We wish Andy and Adele all the best in the future. A real blow for the local music scene.

Very depressed,
Howie

28th May 2007

The Ship, The Ship, The Ship......What an absolutley teriffic night! No doubt about it, this is the best gig that we do! I was still buzzing the next day.
It wasn't that long ago we were playing to a handful of people in each venue. We really do appriciate the fact that so many people turn up, some of whom have travelled from other towns. It seems the word is spreading.............

Watch out for the Flies, and we'll see you at the Belle Vue.
Howie

5th April 2007

Things will be a bit quiet on the Divide front for Summer 2007. This is due to various factors, but mostly other commitments. Don't forget to support us on the gigs that we DO have (Queen Charlotte in Norwich is soon). Normal service will be resumed later in the year, with new material and possibly a new album (fingers crossed). We also have a limited number of some awesome Divide T-shirts that will be available at the gigs. Now there's a reason to go in itself......

Be Lucky
Howie

11th March 2007

Well, 2 gigs on from the last update. The Belle Vue went very well, we were made to feel very welcome by Diane and her staff, and there were lots of people! Oxo, the new drummer was a bit nervous, but did a sterling job considering that he had only had two rehearsals. We shall see you back down there very soon.
The Ship, oh yes, The Ship..... KIN 'ELL! What a night! Rogers birthday, 21 again (nudge nudge, wink wink). Absolute bloody cracker! What can I say? The impromptu "Whole lotta Rosie" was a bit of a shambles, but it was a real party in every sense of the word, complete with munchies (thanks Angie). And again, lots of people! This seems to be getting a bit of a trend.
Thanks to everyone for coming, without you lot it would be no fun.

Howie

5th February 2007

Wow! What a weekend. The Carlton was difficult, due to not actually having enough space to set up in.... We went down well, once we got going though.
The Ship was something else.. Very busy.. Great atmosphere. What a gig! We would like to thank Pete Loads for his absolutely phenomenal drumming for both gigs. What a star!!

Howie

2nd February 2007

The futures looking bright! We hope to be travelling to Holland and Denmark this summer for a couple of very large festivals.. Nothing firm yet, but we will keep you posted .

30th January 2007

We would like to announce that Paul Oxborough is The Divides new drummer. He previously played with highly regarded local band "Tempered Elf". His 1st gig will be at the Bell Vue in Gorleston on the 24rd February. We would like to thank Bill Cozy for filling the drum stool for the last 3 years.
We have two gigs before that. The 2nd of February at the Carlton in Lowestoft, and the 3rd at The Ship in Gt. Yarmouth. For these gigs, the drum stool will be filled by Pete Loads.

8th January 2007

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYBODY!

I would like to thank everyone that came to the last 3 gigs. Each one a cracker! A new year and a new Divide. We are currently seeking a new drummer. We aim to take the band to another level. Could you do it? Do you know a shit hot rock drummer that is just sitting twiddling their sticks? If so get in contact!

Howie

27th December 2006

DUE TO CIRCUMSTANCES BEYOND OUR CONTROL
THE GIG AT THE ROMANY ON THE 5TH JAN IS CANCELLED

12th December 2006

Hi All! Its been a while. Its about time I did an update.
Up beat stuff to start with. Two more gigs coming up before Xmas, first Rasputins, with the lovely all girl punk band Punch the Vicar in supporting role. Closely followed by our "office party" at the Ship on the 23rd. We might even play you some new material!
Now the not so good stuff. The Never Turn Back in Caister is no longer a live music venue. Its the same old story, use it or lose it. I think we played to 10 people at our last (which was also the very last) gig there. If you want to see bands at your local venue, be a regular visitor. No punters means no venues, and where would we be without places to play?
We have one more gig this year after Xmas, on the 29th of December at the Queen Charlotte on Dereham Road in Norwich. This is a much needed new venue on the Norwich scene, we hope to show the management we mean business. Hope to see you there too.......

Have a good 'un.

Howie

22nd September 2006

After a quiet period, 2 gigs in a week seems to be a shock to the system for us (mostly) "senior" musos in The Divide. I must say we had a great time!
The Brickmakers on a Tuesday might seem an odd gig, but it was really good! Two other bands, If Fire Would Fall, and Arch Stanton were both excellent. You can find them on the freinds page on our Myspace site.
It was our 1st visit to The Never Turn Back, recently re-opened after quite some time, and under new management. We were made to feel very welcome (which you can't say of every gig). Not a huge crowd, but very appreciative. I'm really looking foward to the next one there, when we have a really good support band.
And, of course, tonight we return to the Ship. Home teritory for us, but we've been away for a while, so we're hoping for a good turn out. See ya there, maybe?

Howie

1st August 2006

It was our first outing at The Cliff Top Gala (formerly The Raft Race), It was nice to see so many people enjoying the sun. I'm not sure what most people made of us, as we're not your average covers band, and we don't stand around looking bored. Apart from the headbangers at the front, everybody else sat and watched. Mind you there were a LOT of people sitting and watching. I've had some great feedback from people who have never seen the band before, so hopefully everybody enjoyed it.
Next up is B2 @ the Brickmakers in September. Its a while off, so hopefully we can get some new material written by then.

Howie

20th July 2006

Yet again, Mad Mag Day was a great gig. We were a bit worried about this one. We hadn't practiced for nearly two months due to various reasons, Ross was still jet lagged . It could have all gone so horribly wrong.... But it was fine! There's some good pictures too, which I've posted (gallery 4). Now looking forward to The Cliff Top Gala in Gorleston on the 29th. It's a big site, so to find us, head south, and we are on stage next to where the hedge runs out! We kick off at 6.30, but there are bands on from 4.00pm. See ya there maybe?

Howie

10th June 2006

Our 1st gig at Rasputins was a bit of a success, I believe! Heaven Denies did a solid rock and metal covers set which was warmly received by the sizable audience. We hit the stage at just after 11pm, feeling a little tired at that time of night (we are getting old you know! It was way past our bedtime!) . Straight away all thoughts of Horlicks were erased by a wave of instant energy, and we were rocking! Nice to see a few familiar faces, knowing that some had gone to Download, and we made some new friends, one of which sent us a fantastic email, which is now posted on the new "Reviews" page.
No gigs now for a month, as Ross is off to the land of Big Macs for a "vacation" for a month.

Have a nice day, y'all,
Howie

30th May 2006

I'd like to thank everyone who turned up (and got wet) at our Market Place gig. I don't think its the best we've played, but we still got a great reaction.

Don't forget about our gig at Rasputins on the 9th of June, with Heaven Denies supporting. We might have dried out by then....

Howie

20th May 2006

Well! What a good gig the Ship was! Its been a couple of months since we played there and we were starting to wonder whether people remembered who we were! No panic necessary! Thanks to everyone who turned out... wasn't too sure about Garths "biting off a flys head" routine! Ozzy? Who's he?
Catch you all on Bank Holiday Monday on the Market Place. We're on at 5.15 as part of the biggest musical extravaganza to hit sleepy old Yarmouth!

See ya there.

Howie

17th May 2006

You may have noticed that I've made a new myspace site for us, come give us a look! We can be found at http://www.myspace.com/thedividerocks. See every one at the Ship on Friday? I hope so.....

Howie

10th May 2006

The gig on Yarmouth Market Place is now confirmed as Bank holiday Monday 29th at around 5.15pm

9th May 2006

You may have noticed that the Yarmouth Market place gig has disappeared from the gig list. This is because our slot has been moved, and I will post the new slot as soon as I know it.

Howie

5th May 2006

Well, What can I say.....?
Out of the blue, we're suddenly plaing at Rosie's in front of 500-odd people! It was part of Lock and Loads "Battle of the Bands". We're were only guests, playing because BOTH competion entrants had dropped out at short notice! The other band was Manchester based Maladjusted, who jumped on the train at the last minute, leaving in such a rush they forgot to bring some drum sticks! I felt a bit sorry for Malajusted, they had travelled a very long way at very short notice, only to get a slightly frosty reception from the locals. "Its the first time we've ever been booed on stage!" one member said to me. Nice lads and I think they deserved better than that. We, on the other had got a really good reception, which was completely the opposite to the apathy of a large part of audience when we were in the comp last year. Thanks to everyone that cheered us on, and thanks to Foggy for mixing us, even though he'd had a few, and only went to watch!
Hope to see you all at the Ship later in the month, and we really will have some CDs with us.....honest!

Howie

20th April 2006

Hiya,
I'm pleased to announce that the support band for Rasputins will be ex Tempered Elf band Heaven Denies. Tempered Elf were a popular Lowestoft based rock band that split earlier this year due to "musical differences", and basically divided into to camps, one of which is Heaven Denies. It will be interesting to see what Chris and the guys come up with. I'm sure it's gonna be good.

Howie

8th April 2006

Hello,
Due to unforseen circumstances, we have had to cancel the gig at the Ship on the 21st of April. This will be re-scheduled.for some point later in the year. Sorry about that, but we will be back there soon.!

Howie

30th March 2006

Hi All,
Firstly, I would like to apologise for the lack of updates recently. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I have been offline for a bit. O' Gradys was an, um, interesting gig. We do not appreciate the landlady turning on the jukebox, full blast, mid set! We would like to thank the people who turned up to watch, as there was stiff competition in the nearby venues. Looking forward, the next gig is at the Marquee, in Norwich, on Saturday the 8th of April. This is an all day music event and we are on at 6pm. Hopefully we can use this gig as a springboard into the Norwich scene, which we've had problems breaking into, despite having played some well attended, prime rock gigs (The Waterfront, the Brickmakers), and had a good reception. There are a couple of other gigs in the pipeline, both of which will be at local festivals. I'll give you some more details as they are confirmed.

Cheers,
Howie

13th February 2006

Greetings Rock Fans,
Well the Ship went well, as usual. Some of the regular faces were missing this time, but there were lots of new ones, who were noticeably younger. Were looking forward to playing O' Grady's again on the 24th of March, as we haven't played there since last summer. We are working on a new intro song which should hopefully get it's 1st airing at the next Ship gig next month.

See you soon,
Howie

12th January 2006

Hiya,
Happy new year to everyone. I hope everybody has fully recovered from the festivities. Here's you chance to come a blow away those January blues. Friday the 13th (a more suitable date I couldn't think of!) at the Ship in Great Yarmouth. We've slipped in another cover for this gig, because people were asking for some AC/DC. Not the most obvious one, but then we're not the "obvious" type of band, are we?

Hope to catch you there,
Howie

12th December 2005

Hello!,
Sorry this has been a while coming (thanks for pointing this out Martin). Well, we must have done something right, The Ship has block booked us, once a month, for the next six months! Details are on the "Gigs" page. Not much more to add, except have a Happy Christmas and New Year. See y'all in January hopefully!

Cheers (hic!)
Howie

22nd October 2005

Right you lot,
As I mentioned previously, The next gig at the Ship will be on the 25th November. This is gonna be an absolute SCREAM! Its the official grand opening of the venue as a music pub. If the last one was anthing to go by, well, hold on to your hats! The Ship was for many years Yarmouth's best music pub, and it will be great to see it back on the map of a severely depleted music scene. We're honoured to be asked to do the official grand opening. We ask you all to support Andy and his team, not just our gig, but at the others that will follow, and I know he's got some great acts lined up. Its just a great place!

Cheers,
Howie

Oh Dear,
Due to circumstances beyond our control, the gig on the 28th of October has been rescheduled to the 25th November. Complaints should be forwarded to Allens Bar, Greyfriars.......... If Chris thinks I'm gonna drink in his pub, man, he's got another thing coming (to misquote Judas Priest). Be anywhere than there.........

Its now that time of year when we take a bit of time for holidays and things, so no gigs for a bit. But we are still writing and recording. Watch this space, and keep on rocking!

Congratualations to Seven day story for winning Lock and Loads Battle of the Bands!

8th July 2005

Hi all,
Firstly, apologies to anyone planning to attend the gig at the Marina with Dirty DC. The place is still gonna be closed for another couple of weeks, so as they say "Due to circumstances out of our control......" Hopefully it should be re-scheduled for sometime soon.
Well, we're out of Lock and Loads 'Battle of the Bands". Our final score in the semi fimal was 104, to Blag's 114.5. Still we can't complain. We didn't set out to win, only to get some exposure and have some fun. I picked this one over PJ's rival competition for two reasons. 1 PJ's uses the venues house system, which is a disco rig! Not designed for bands and whatever u do to it, its not gonna sound much (sorry, once a noise boy, always a noise boy!), and 2, I thought the standard of the bands in the L&L competition would be much better, therefore making it much harder 4 us (always the masochist). We had a good time and, hopefully, found some fans, even if most of the audience were too young , legally, to buy a packet of cigarettes! As a bonus, we even got a couple of reasonable videos out it. I'd like to thank everyone that was involved and wish everyone the best of luck in the final!
See you on Mag Mag Day? Should be good, lots of other bands, battle re-enactments, a climbing wall (race you to the top!), a firework display and loads of other stuff. We are due to play at around 7 o'clock ish, but theres no harm in getting there early to support everyone else. I know how much hard work has gone into organising this, so please come and support it!

PS. Anyone who mentions "weather" will have their genitals forceably removed with a blunt instrument.......

Howie

5th July 2005

Sorry, But due to a fire at the Marina Centre, our gig with Dirty DC on the 8th of July is cancelled.

1st July 2005

Hello Peeps,
Well, I think we played ok, the place was very busy (full marks to the headbangers at the front!). Blag played very well, with some good material which was a cut above your average "Green Day meets Bosstones" ska punk band , and nice guys to boot! I think a good time was had by all, and full marks to Lock 'n Load for organising an alternative venue at basically no notice! Thanks to everyone who turned up, cos if no one goes, the gigs wouldn't happen.
Speaking of gigs not happening, the Dirty DC gig is now in jeopardy because the Marina centre is shut due to a fire, and probably for at least 3 weeks. Alternative venues and dates are being explored, but nothing is sorted just yet.

Howie

PS. Note the new video clip from battle of the bands!

18th June 2005

Hiya,
We've made the semi finals of Lock & Loads battle of the bands, playing on the 30th June, at the Marina Centre, Great Yarmouth. We're up against 'Blag', who I know nothing about. I do know that we are on second, which means that we will be on at around 9 0'clock.

See ya there.........

Howie

9th June 2005

Yo, Peeps,
Another gig added to the world tour (of Norfolk and North Suffolk)! We're Supportting Dirty DC again, this time at the Marina Centre in Great Yarmouth, on July the 8th. For those of us that missed the Waterfront gig, this band are awesome, they really look and sound the part, and if this gig is only half as good as the last one, it will be a blinder!
We've now started rehersals for a new album, featuring many of the songs that have been aired at the last few gigs. The trouble is, at the speed we work, it might be available sometime in 2010! But we have made a start!

Catch ya soon.
Howie

5th June 2005

Hello again,
Thanks to the few who braved the rain yesterday (you know who you are). Oh well, it was a gig......

31st May 2005

Well......read this.....

"The singer was definitely dressed for the part, almost Alice Cooper-esque with his hat and all. Bringing the band’s overall sound to a good climax with his powerful voice, which never yielded to any pressure or lack of strength and managed to keep it going throughout the whole set. 20 years ago if this band had been going about they would have been huge and I’m surprised they havn’t gone any further than the local pub and club scene. They have the stage prescence of Iron Maiden and the song writing skills of Black Sabbath and if you are a fan of the latter then you really should check this band out!" This was a review from our last outing at Lock and Load's little shindig at the Marina centre in sunny Great Yarmouth. I won't go on, but u can read the rest of it, and more at www.battleofthebands.co.uk. We are currently sitting in 4th place on their leaderboard.

Catch y'all later (if not before....), or maybe Saturday?

Howie

26th May 2005

Yes! We've got another gig. Saturday 4th June. Reflections is in the High Street in Lowestoft. We don't know what time we will be playing, as there will be at least 1 other band on. The action starts 'round about 8 - 8.30 and its £3 on the door, so better turn up early!

Howie

25th May 2005

Hello Peeps,
It seems that we're in favour with the guys and gals at Pulse unsigned. "Loser" has been played six times in the last few weeks!. While we're on the subject of Pulse, please vote for us on their poll, Its nearly the end of the month, and we would love to be on the promo cd that goes out to all the record companies. It only takes a couple of minutes to register, and you can vote for us every 24 hours. Thanks
Still no news on the Battle of the Bands front, I will keep you informed.

Cheers me dears,

Howie

16th May 2005

Well, we did the Battle of the Bands, we think we played ok, we scored 102.5, but don't know what the other band (Forever Falling) got.
As soon as I know more, I shall let everybody know. Pix from the gig are now on the "pics" button on the left (!).

Catch you soon.....

Howie

12th May 2005

Welcome to the new "news" section of the site. Here you will find bits and pieces of information relating to THE DIVIDE.

Firstly, I'd like to thank everyone who came to our last couple of gigs, at the Waterfront and at Allens. As fars as we are concerned, both gigs were absolute blinders. Mainly because the audience reaction was terrific! We actually felt like rock stars, thank you to those people that turned up and cheered us on, you know who you are!.

Next up, future gigs. Tonight is the second round of 'Lock and Loads' Battle of the Bands. We're just gonna go out there and do what we do. We don't expect to win, although we think that we are capable of it, these type of competitions are quite unpredictable, even though the organisers of this one try very hard to be fair to all. Also the quality of some of the other band is extremely good. Hope to see you all there.

Much beyond that, there is only Mad Mag Day,on the 16th of July. It's an annual, all day event, held on Magdalen Square in Gorleston, Gt. Yarmouth. I'll let you know the details when I know more.

If you know of any places that you think we should play, let us know, or hassle them until they book us. One recent gig won't rebook us because we are "too heavy"! Despite the fact that the place was reasonably busy and everyone was enjoying themselves. What they really meant is that we don't play Bon Jovi, Bryan Adams or Oasis, like every other band they have there. Life is never gonna be easy for a band doing original material in a musically blinkered area like Yarmouth. If the place was empty, with no-one drinking, or full of arseholes trashing the place, I could understand, but too heavy? Answers on a postcard to Greyfriars Way, Great Yarmouth.

Right, I'm off my soapbox. Must go and restring my guitar

Catch you soon,

Howie.
